But I had to drop everything and get on this blog when I heard about this new product from Illamasqua. It's called the Skin Base foundation...how about I just let Illamasqua tell you what it's all about:
Inspired by the cult Asian market Beauty Balm creams, Skin Base Foundation is a brand new, refined formula unlike anything on the UK market. The ultimate ‘skin realism’ foundation. Easily blendable, it effortlessly creates a perfect complexion, and like the entire Illamasqua foundation range, is undetectable in a professional HD environment. Suitable for all skin types, it smoothes, softens and conditions your skin whilst providing natural, buildable coverage. “Skin Base is an innovative formula that doesn’t require any outlandish marketing claims. In my 20 years experience as a professional make-up artist, I have tried some fantastic foundation innovations, but nothing compares to Skin Base’s winning texture and professional finish – it will leave you staring at your immaculate skin in wonderment. I was an immediate convert, and take tremendous pride in introducing this to the market.” David Horne, Illamasqua Director of Product Development

David explains the evolution of the product further in the latest Illamasqua video at youtube.com/illamasqua. Illamasqua’s revolutionary new foundation is a 'water in silicone' based formula that works effectively as both skincare and foundation. Skin Base can be used as a primer, liquid concealer, or foundation that melts into the skin to even out and balance skin tones providing undetectable yet flawless enhancement. Non-evident foundation appearance. Believable skin finish. Skin Base contains a Vitamin C derivative which can scavenge and destroy aggressive oxidizing agents and free radicals on the skin. Skin Base will be available in 18 shades, incorporating every skintone. Available online from 23rd June £25 - 30ml
Okay, now let's chat about it for a second. I've always been curious about BB creams. In fact, there was a time when I obsessively searched them out online, but all the BB creams I found only came in really light colours. I was annoyed to say the least. But this foundation comes in 18 shades! I'm stoked. I can't wait to try it. I was also informed that Illamasqua didn't add in any spf or any whitening ingredients which is a major plus for me. I prefer putting on my own spf, just cuz if I need the foundation for photos (especially if there will be flash) I prefer NOT to have Ghost Face. And it saves me from having to find 2 foundations...the "everyday protect-your-face" foundation and the "don't have a floating head in pictures" foundation.
So what do you guys think? Are you as excited about this as I am? Or is this one a pass for you? I definitely want to try it to see if it can live up to the claim that it can be used as a primer, foundation and concealer. I want believable skin. With summer coming I'm feeling a little weighed down by my usual foundation.
